Tripura Pradesh Yuva Congress Paralyzes Railway Service in Tripura

The C Times,8 June 2017, Agartala: Tripura Pradesh youth Congress activists on a Thursday morning the railway service at Agartala railway station to raise their voice against the death of five farmers in Madhya Pradesh recently. The protest was steered by Tripura Pradesh Congress Youth President Sri Sushanta Chakraborty.

At least five farmers were shot dead on Tuesday at a protest in Mandausar, Madhya Pradesh, during the farmers’ strike demanding a loan waiver and better procurement prices. Several others were injured. A curfew has been imposed in Mandausar and surrounding areas including Pipla Mandi that were epicentres of the protest.

The sudden disruption of railway service created a furore among the daily passengers. A large contingent of the police force was deployed to evacuate the agitating youths from the railway tracks. More than a hundred activists were arrested from the spot.
