Three Cases of Theft in One Night: Police Just a Mere Spectator

The C Times, 12th June 2017, Agartala: Three cases of theft reportedly took place at Ladduchowmuni Bazaar in the wee hours of Sunday night. The first incident took place in a hardware shop owned by Sri UttamDebnath where the miscreants decamped with various materials and accessories. The second one in a sweet shop owned by Sri PremlalDebnath. The gang fled away with cash amounting to 3000/- rupees and some costly materials. The burglars then targeted a grocery shop and disappeared with 50,000 rupees cash (statement was given by shop owner Sri Abdul Suban).

On Monday morning the incident first came to light when Sri Abdul Suban opened his shop. He then informed the Bodhjungnagar P.S. The police came late to the spot at around 11.45 am after repeated made by the shop owners and bazaar committee members.

The spot of crime Ladduchowmuni Bazaar comes under the jurisdiction of Bodhjungnagar PS but is also near to NCC PS and East PS. The occurrence of such a daring incident in a bazaar which lies in the vicinity of three police stations has created panic among the shopkeepers and locals.

The late arrival of police and their unwilling attitude to nab the burglars has aroused suspicion over the role of police. It seems as if the incidents took place under proper surveillance of the police…said one of the Bazaar Committee members.
