Home to thousands of rapes, Agartala is one of the many states around the countries when women are taught to cover up and be ashamed for being molested, a logic far from reasoning.
A 13-year-old girl of Damodarriang para under Nepal Tilla PS in Dhalai district was brutally gang raped by 3 persons. According to police officials, the victim was alone at home and watching T.V when 3 mid aged strangers barged in and tied her up. They forced themselves on her and raped her several times before she fell unconscious. Presuming her dead the culprits left the spot in a hurry.
The victims parents on returning from day long work on the field found her bleeding profusely. They sprinkled water on her and after regaining consciousness she narrated the whole incident. The CPIM cadres of the village tried to hush up the issue by settling the matter mutually.
When the condition of the girl deteriorated her parents rushed her to the hospital. A FIR under section 376 (D) and POSCO Act was lodged by the victim’s parents in Nepal Tilla PS. Acting on a tip of the Nepal Tilla PS O/C, Subhankar Debbarma nabbed the three accused from a dilapidated house on Monday morning. The culprits were identified as Chittaranjan Tripura (42), Dinesh Tripura (29) and Mohan Tripura (27). They were produced in the court and sent to judicial custody.
Merely one day before this incident on 28th June 2017, a 7-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 54-year-old man living in her neighbourhood.
Altogether 196 rape cases were registered here in Tripura till January 2015 with the record in the Financial Year (FY) 2014-15 shows a hefty climb to the crimes against women. Tripura witnessed 840 cases relating to crime against women till January 2015, out of which 196 are rape cases.
A total of 107 rape cases were lodged during the financial year 2013-14, whereas during the previous FY the figures rested at 108. However but the figures jumped to 196 during the 2014-15 FY.Despite International Women’s Day celebration, staging several awareness programmes and others by the Tripura police and other Govt. organisations, the crimes rate has emerged as a matter of concern now for the governmental and non-governmental bodies here in Tripura.Rape and other crimes against women, girl children has become a daily news feed here in the state with the govt. has put a serious negligence to it, as a result, the rate of crimes has increased at an alarming rate in Tripura. According to the Crimes in India 2013 report published by National Crimes Record Bureau (NCRB), Tripura had registered 1628 cases of various crimes against women during 2013.
Therapists don’t know they also have their sister. If the same case happens to them then what they will do to therapists. One day they became married that time they also became the father of a daughter. If same things happen to their daughter then that time only they know the pain of the 13 years baby. Very shameful, said a woman.
