The BJP, which had made significant inroads in the state’s panchayats, has also increased its vote share in significant by-elections to two assembly constituencies – Khowai and Barjala – in November last year. In Khowai, its vote share rose from 511 in 2013 to 12,395 in 2016. Likewise, in Barjala it went up from 232 to 2528 in a gap of fewer than four years.
The foothold of BJP party has spread from the urban areas to the ADC villages. Today the ADC capital Khumlung witnessed a massive crowd on the arrival of Central Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Faggan Singh Kulaste. He is on a two-day visit to strengthen BJP’s strategy for the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections.
The central minister today in his speech expressed serious concern about the present condition of the health department of the state and its services. He also said that the people of the urban, semi-urban and rural/village areas have realised that they have been continuously deprived of various benefits by the 24-year-old CPIM run govt. and it is high time that to dethrone the 24-year-old govt. and it’s misrule.
BJP state president Biplab Kumar Deb, State observer Sunil Deodhar, Vice President Subal Bhowmik and leader of ST Cell Rampada Jamatia were also present in the programme.
BJP State President Biplab Kumar Deb said that ” Only seven months are left for the elections. He urged all the members and people of the state to be patient since history will be created after seven months. For the first time BJP govt. will be formed in the state. He also assured that after formation the BJP govt. will work for the socio-economic development of the ADC areas and added powers will be provided to TTAADC.”
Vice President Subal Bhowmik said that “This is going to be the last epic war of Mahabharat, the good will defeat the evil and it is only a matter of time. The end of 24-year-old corruption and misrule has been scripted by the almighty. A new sun will rise after seven months and a clean and transparent “People’s Govt.” will be formed”
ST welfare cell leader Rampada Jamatia further added that “In the past 24 years the ST people were the most deprived. They have always been used and misled by the left govt. Now the time has come to teach them a proper lesson. We will pay the CPIM run govt. in their way by showing the lotus seeds all over the state.”
