TNS Met ICT Minister and Submitted a Nine-point charter of demands.

A delegation of Tripura Newspaper Society (TNS) led by its president Subal Kumar Dey on Friday met the Information Minister Bhanulal Saha in the Secretariat and submitted a nine-point charter of demands.

In the memorandum, highlighting the problems of print media and electronic media. During long hour discussion ICT Minister accepted the Justification of the demands and assured to do some steps.

The delegation demanded to review the Tripura Advertisement Guidelines 2009 and formulate a policy keeping eyes on the present scenario of the newspaper industry.

Tripura Newspaper Society also urged the Minister to issue display advertisement to the weekly newspapers along with Dailies as High Court of Tripura has already ruled on if. The Society also urged the Minister to bring a change in the issuing of accreditation cards.

The memorandum also demanded to release one advertisement to four newspapers. The decision was taken to issue one advertisement to four newspapers in the year 1978. At present member of newspapers increased manifolds than in 1978.

The problems of the electronic media also come up for discussion and minister accepted the problems and instructed to the department secretary to sort it out. The society also demanded to increase the rate of pension from Rs One thousand to Five thousand.

Arun Nath, Pranab Sarkar, Arun Kumar Debnath, Sebak Bhattacherjee, Ratan Shil, Tapan Majumder and Sourajit Paul, TNS members were also present in the Minister meeting with Society president.
