Flowering up addition window in the utilisation of centre fund to provide hasty healthcare to the accident victims, the BJP alleged over Rs 11 crore had been funnelled off in the name of setting up Trauma Centres in AGMC, GB hospital and Kulai District hospital in papers.
Boosting allegation against the state government on Sunday afternoon, BJP state spokesperson Dr Ashoke Sinha in a press meet said that the State government is diverting the funds sanctioned by the Centre for Trauma Care Centre in AGMC, GBP hospital and Kulai district hospital during the 2006-07 financial year and again on the 2016-17 financial year.
The Centre had released Rs 1.61 crore to set up Trauma Centre along the national highway during 2006-07 financial year, but nothing was done so far, In the year 2016-17, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 10.77 crore to establish Trauma Centres in Udaipur, Santir Bazar and Dharmanagar hospitals. The amount was released to set up Trauma so that accident victim could get immediate healthcare facility, Dr Sinha said.
As per the guideline, Trauma Centre was supposed to have modern equipment with specialist doctors especially Orthopaedic surgeon round the clock.
Dr Sinha also added, “No such facility has been created so far but the department has sent utilisation certificate to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Nobody knows where the fund went? The government must answer to it”.
“The department has sent utilisation certificate to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in June 2017, saying, the fund has been utilised as per the guideline. Now the people of the state want to know how come such a huge amount was spent without setting up of Trauma Centres aimed at proving healthcare facility to the accident victims,” said Subrata Chakraborty, another BJP Spokesman.
