In yet another incident of political violence in Tripura, Bharati Janata Party (BJP) workers on Tuesday were allegedly attacked by Communist Party of India (Marxist) activists in Amarpur, Gomati district.
A 75-year old, Krishna Charan Das, BJP activist was seriously injured when a group of alleged CPI-M workers, Parimal Das, hacked him in his home in Amarpur in the politically sensitive district Gomati, police said.
According to news, the BJP supporter Krishna Charan Das home’s water pipeline has come via neighbour CMI-M supporter Parimal Das’s home, on August 6, Parimal Das and his family members had cut the water connectivity of Krishnacharan Das’s water pipeline. When he asked about it, Parimal Das rudely declined to talk to him.
Earlier, the relation between two families was too good but when Krishnacharan and his family join in BJP, the relation turned bad, said a neighbour.
On this day, the local people along with Krishnacharan went to Parimal das home to ask why he cut the Krishna Charan house’s water connectivity. Then Parimal’s family members began fighting with everyone, said a neighbour.
After that night the family members of Parimal Das came to Krishna Charan home and started to bet Parimal Das’s wife, daughter and daughter-in-law, said Krishna Charan’s wife.
The incident happened around 9 pm when Krishnacharan Das attempted to rescue to his family members, then he was injured on Parimal das’ hand with an iron weapon.
Krishnacharan Das seriously injured and he is now hospitalized.
Krishna Charan’s wife alleged this incident has generated resentment among the 3 persons. She accused Parimal Das, Ratan Das, Gopal Das, who is Panchayat member and Haradhan Das. They are all activists of Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Tripura has witnessed a series of clashes between ruling CPI-M and BJP combine for the past few months in the continuing political rivalry between them.
