Eight prisoners have injured in Dhalai district of North Tripura in a clash between two groups inside the Gandacherra Sub-divisional Jail two days ago. “One of them Shishu Ranjan Sarkar was shifted to Agartala Government Medical College in critical condition”, a jail official said.
Explaining the sequence of events, a Jail officer said, the incident took place on the midnight of August 16. When the eight under trial prisoners kept in a cell. Among them, four Bangladeshis, two bike lifters and two are accused of a murder case. All the eight prisoners are injured.
The jail authority sent all the eight injured persons in Gandacherra Sub-divisional Hospital. The attending Doctors released seven injured persons after first aid and considering the gravity of condition sent Shishu Ranjan Sarkar to AGMC for better treatment.
He received head injury during the clash. The clash among under trial prisoners, eight injured. There are no CT scan facilities in the Gandacherra hospital. Shishu Ranjan Sarkar and Subrata Sarkar were arrested on August 09 in connection with the death of fourteen years old Karna Singh Tripura of New Bhagirath Para.
Jailor Lalrati Darlong and Deputy Collector L Darlong visited the jail and talked with other employees. But so far they failed to find out the reason of the clash among the under trial prisoners.
Meantime, the Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate has directed the police station to submit a detailed report on the clash among the under trial prisoners at Gandacherra jail.
Laxmicharan Sarkar, The father of Shishu Ranjan Sarkar has blamed the jail authority for such a clash took place in the Gandacherra jail. He drew the attention of the SDJM over the injury of his son.
Jail supernatant Lalrati Darlong said they have also ordered an internal inquiry to prove if there were any administration lapses.
