Eight BJP and six ruling party activists were injured in a clash with CPM-BJP during the hearing on voter lists in Mirza Tehsil office, Gomati district.
The CPIM-BJP clash took place outside Mirza Tehsil office following an objection raised by the saffron brigade activists. The injured persons were shifted to Kakraban hospital soon after the incident took place.
According to sources, the hearing on voter lists was going on at Mirza Tehsil office in presence of the representative of different political parties.
The saffron brigade activists allegedly spotted some errors in the voter list and raised an objection during the hearing. It was then an argument took place between the members of two parties after the ruling party cadres denied the objection.
All of a sudden the situation turned volatile as the activists of both parties got engaged in a clash triggering unrest in the entire locality. In the meantime, SP Gomati along with policemen reached the spot and made prompt efforts to tackle the situation.
TSR personnel inadequate number were deployed and temporary police pickets were set up to avoid any further untoward incident.
BJP Gomati district vice president Jiten Majumder was also seriously injured in the clash. All are now admitted Tripura Sundari Hospital. MLA Pranajit Singha Roy and other BJP leaders of Gomati district visit hospital and met the injured all BJP activists.
